This page describes the events of our second full day in Newfoundland, and we made the most of expoloring the coast and towns around Gros Morne Park itself.
Home PageOn this day, we toured several towns and villages close to Rocky Harbour, starting with Norris Point. We started with several spots close to the town, and ended the morning at the Marine Station in >>??. After a lunch at a local restaurant, we toured around some other nearby venues.
A description of the first day's events which included:
Our first adventure was visiting the Jenniex House which has a spectacular view of Norris Point and Bonne's Bay.
We then drove around the town of Norris Point, which is on Bonne's Bay. Memorial University has a Marine Station there which, fortunately, was still open and they had not returned the marine life there to the ocean by that time. We were treated to a number of interesting talks by the enthusiastic staff, and saw a variety of very interesting marine life. This included a 'blue' (literally) crab as well as being able to directly touch many of the sea creatures. A great adventure!
We lunched at a small restaurant just across from the Marine Station. It was a simple, but hearty meal, and Andy and I sampled another variety of Newfoundland beer.
After lunch, Linda, Andy, and Jeff drove back along the coast towards Deer Lake, and viewed Bonne's Bay more closely. Andy was interested in getting some photographs of eagles if possible, but that was not to be the case today. Jamie, Megan, and Ollie went back to the B and B for nap time!
Dinner was at a relatively sophisticated restaurant at a hotel down the street from our local digs.
